Abstract:

These data cover all Wilderness Areas designated by Congress in Montana. They are extracted from the statewide land ownership and managed areas layer maintained by the MTNHP.

Completeness report:

This data set includes all currently designated wilderness areas in Montana. Many federal agencies (BLM; NPS; USFS; USFWS) have recommended additional areas for wilderness. Designation requires an act of Congress; areas recommended for designation are not included here.

Horizontal Positional Accuracy Report:

This is basically 1:100000 scale (100K) data with a horizontal accuracy of approximately 170 feet.
